Shoot, Shoot

This week has been crazy for once! we had our studio day for the shoots going in our magazine. A classic knitwear Mark Fast shoot and a beauty shoot. We also have a third shoot of obscure knitwear, but that is taking place on location. Here is some of the images from the day! I have so much left over wool, i could knit scarves for the entirety of my street...

Nails!

I love ebay - who doesn't? 500 false nails for £2.99 seems like a bargain for a girl like me who can't grow her nails for toffee! So this is the solution. Beautiful nails, that i can't attack with my nervous habits and all the while my nails underneath are trying to regroup and grow :) Everyone wins.

Democracy

Not sure how i feel about democracy if the decision doesn't ever go in your favor? Take today for example: How would you feel if it was 99 - 1 vote against you in something that you feel very strongly about? I get very frustrated at the injustice in this. I know its keeping a majority happy, but what about the unhappy minority, are they just suppose to be forgotten about? Learn to live with the decision kind of behavior. Im not sure if i can.

Purl or Prick?

I know where my choice lies...

Poetic

So lately I have found myself writing a lot of poetry, true it was part of my current project but i've moved onto reading it. Currently I am reading "Love letters of Great Men" which suggests the nonsense behind Lord Byron's eternal love and that today, a good old text message or email is more then enough to satisfy a yearning heart for it's beloved and their words of warmth. I am not sure I agree with this, but then again everyone has their own way of expressing emotion. It would just be nice if all men wrote epic love ballads to theirs truly.

New Look!

After a recent look at my blog i decided it needed a make over. So here it is. Then I decided it needed a name change as well considering i don't actually really write about shopping and more post my weekly rambles. so here is the new look, with the new name!

Purl Magazine

So for once I am so happy to blog about something positive and it's how excited I am about my current university project which is a group work magazine. At first I dreaded the thought of group work, but after today's dragons den seminar, we were the only group to be invested in so now I'm really excited to get going with it.

The publication is called purl (lowercase intended) and concentrates on breaking away from stereotypical and traditional tutorial style knitting magazine and focus on remarkable knitwear. purl will include fashion forward designers experimenting with knitwear such as Sibling, Mark Fast, Dries Van Noten, Giles and the work of Kay Facet.

purl provides a weird and wonderful look into the world of creative knitwear and will feature shoots on yarn bombing - the use of left over knitting with no purpose to brighten up cold public environments and bondage knitwear.

Other features include:-
Knitting models
Knitted wedding dresses
Knitted swimwear
Knitting using other materials such as metal and human hair
Knitting structures
Photo editorials will take inspiration from David Lachapelle and Terry Richardson. purl will creatively explore the idea of natural fiber decay and the effect of moths on knitwear and present them in either bright colours or in negatives.

***

Overall, I'm really excited to research into this idea fully and even more excited to see what the final product will look like. It looks like it is going to be a very, very busy next few weeks for me for a change!

Found The Needle!

Alas! I have found the preverbal needle in a haystack, at last. I have 5 glamourous weeks booked in for April - May at BrightLightPR, lets hope this time around is going to be more promising then the last and will change my current opinion on women that work in PR. It's too late for receptionists and women who drive 4x4 but are 4ft tall though sadly.
