The Return of The Cameo

It's hard not to dispute that fashion is recycled or inspired from the past to reflect the present and influence the future but however you want to view how inspiration is taken things do make come backs. My weeks pick is Cameo Jewellery, making its return due to women's wear becoming more feminine. Cameo was first popular in the early 1800's w
hen the emperor of France revived their fashionable status and then again during Queen Victoria's reign. Traditionally, the jewellery is carved of shell or stone and set in fine metals such as gold and usually bare a women's silhouette or flowers. It now comes back into the limelight in 2010 high street's as the dresses become more florally and the overall vibe from the catwalks is deeply rooted in femininity. Cameo is great in the fact that it can go with any outfit and provide a vintage edge to it making it all the more fashionable! It looks fabulous with velvet - giving it that real vintage victorian feel.

Some of my favourites include:

New Look Layered Cameo Necklace - £5.99

ASOS Rhinestone Edged Butterfly Cameo Ring - £6.00

Retro-Jewellery.co.uk cameo brooch and necklace all in one - £9.00

Top 3 Songs Of The Moment

I've just got back into music again - perhaps due to the line up of birthdays in the next week? so i've decided to share my top 3 favourites that I believe will either be badly sung too, danced too or a combination of both depending on levels of alcohol...

BookMarc

What has the rebellious Marc Jacob's done now? Only opened a book store! it's scheduled to sell, well books but also vinyl records, Marc Jacob's stationary and CD's. This new trendy store, named 'BookMarc' opened on Bleecker Street, in NYC of course! This becomes the sixth edition of the Marc Jacobs empire to join the West Village Area of Manhattan.

I would love some MJ stationary but NYC is a bit out of my way - but every pencil case has a supple plastic lining as my parents are going in October so I'm sorted ;) 1 of everything please...

My First Knitting Project - Snood!

I am quite a crafty person, and as I have just finished my cousin's nursery cross stitch sampler, I decided it was time i learnt to knit. Im working with 6 mm needles and lilac wool. It started off as kind of a nothing project but since there has been an influx of 'Snoods' on the market, I have decided to make my own! I'll upload pictures when it's complete but it could take me a while :s...

My progress so far...
