Poetic

So lately I have found myself writing a lot of poetry, true it was part of my current project but i've moved onto reading it. Currently I am reading "Love letters of Great Men" which suggests the nonsense behind Lord Byron's eternal love and that today, a good old text message or email is more then enough to satisfy a yearning heart for it's beloved and their words of warmth. I am not sure I agree with this, but then again everyone has their own way of expressing emotion. It would just be nice if all men wrote epic love ballads to theirs truly.

New Look!

After a recent look at my blog i decided it needed a make over. So here it is. Then I decided it needed a name change as well considering i don't actually really write about shopping and more post my weekly rambles. so here is the new look, with the new name!

Purl Magazine

So for once I am so happy to blog about something positive and it's how excited I am about my current university project which is a group work magazine. At first I dreaded the thought of group work, but after today's dragons den seminar, we were the only group to be invested in so now I'm really excited to get going with it.

The publication is called purl (lowercase intended) and concentrates on breaking away from stereotypical and traditional tutorial style knitting magazine and focus on remarkable knitwear. purl will include fashion forward designers experimenting with knitwear such as Sibling, Mark Fast, Dries Van Noten, Giles and the work of Kay Facet.

purl provides a weird and wonderful look into the world of creative knitwear and will feature shoots on yarn bombing - the use of left over knitting with no purpose to brighten up cold public environments and bondage knitwear.

Other features include:-
Knitting models
Knitted wedding dresses
Knitted swimwear
Knitting using other materials such as metal and human hair
Knitting structures
Photo editorials will take inspiration from David Lachapelle and Terry Richardson. purl will creatively explore the idea of natural fiber decay and the effect of moths on knitwear and present them in either bright colours or in negatives.

Overall, I'm really excited to research into this idea fully and even more excited to see what the final product will look like. It looks like it is going to be a very, very busy next few weeks for me for a change!

Found The Needle!

Alas! I have found the preverbal needle in a haystack, at last. I have 5 glamourous weeks booked in for April - May at BrightLightPR, lets hope this time around is going to be more promising then the last and will change my current opinion on women that work in PR. It's too late for receptionists and women who drive 4x4 but are 4ft tall though sadly.

I Should Be So Lucky...

So people, here it is again, to me it always seems to darken our doorways more then twice a year, but alas, its only twice. So what are we hoping to see this year? anything new? or shall we see the usual recycled autumn/winter wardrobe such as fur, military attire etc? I am going to go on a positive aspect and predict that autumn/winter is set to liven up a gloomy and miserable British winter with unsuspecting colour and tantalising shapes. I should be so lucky.

Cookie Monster

One of the good things about having to go to London to gain this illusive work experience was the hidden treasure tucked safely away in Carnaby Street. The wondrous place that is Ben's Cookies. They have eleven stores, predominately in London that include Covent Garden, Oxford Street and Kensington. They have around sixteen varieties that include ginger, chocolate, nuts and fruit in a varied combination - my favourite has to be either chocolate & orange or good old milk chocolate chunk. They are fairly expensive as far as cookies go, but it's better as are most things - to buy in bulk which is okay with me! A Ben's box of 7 cookies is £6.95 and they even deliver to your house with next day guaranteed! A recent finding which made my day. What will you choose to put in your box?

Time is a funny thing

Time is a funny thing isn't it? Some how our body adapts to different times of the day and knows if its missed something it's used to. 5 0'clock is the bain of my life - for some reason I always seem to check the clock at this time, maybe it's because its the middle of the day for me, or because it's the time of day I should start getting ready for work on a Thursday? Who knows, but I hate it.
