So for once I am so happy to blog about something positive and it's how excited I am about my current university project which is a group work magazine. At first I dreaded the thought of group work, but after today's dragons den seminar, we were the only group to be invested in so now I'm really excited to get going with it.
The publication is called purl (lowercase intended) and concentrates on breaking away from stereotypical and traditional tutorial style knitting magazine and focus on remarkable knitwear. purl will include fashion forward designers experimenting with knitwear such as Sibling, Mark Fast, Dries Van Noten, Giles and the work of Kay Facet.
purl provides a weird and wonderful look into the world of creative knitwear and will feature shoots on yarn bombing - the use of left over knitting with no purpose to brighten up cold public environments and bondage knitwear.
Other features include:-
Knitting models
Knitted wedding dresses
Knitted swimwear
Knitting using other materials such as metal and human hair
Knitting structures
Photo editorials will take inspiration from David Lachapelle and Terry Richardson. purl will creatively explore the idea of natural fiber decay and the effect of moths on knitwear and present them in either bright colours or in negatives.

Overall, I'm really excited to research into this idea fully and even more excited to see what the final product will look like. It looks like it is going to be a very, very busy next few weeks for me for a change!
