The Return of The Cameo

It's hard not to dispute that fashion is recycled or inspired from the past to reflect the present and influence the future but however you want to view how inspiration is taken things do make come backs. My weeks pick is Cameo Jewellery, making its return due to women's wear becoming more feminine. Cameo was first popular in the early 1800's w
hen the emperor of France revived their fashionable status and then again during Queen Victoria's reign. Traditionally, the jewellery is carved of shell or stone and set in fine metals such as gold and usually bare a women's silhouette or flowers. It now comes back into the limelight in 2010 high street's as the dresses become more florally and the overall vibe from the catwalks is deeply rooted in femininity. Cameo is great in the fact that it can go with any outfit and provide a vintage edge to it making it all the more fashionable! It looks fabulous with velvet - giving it that real vintage victorian feel.

Some of my favourites include:

New Look Layered Cameo Necklace - £5.99

ASOS Rhinestone Edged Butterfly Cameo Ring - £6.00

Retro-Jewellery.co.uk cameo brooch and necklace all in one - £9.00
